About

Hello,

My name is James and I grew up in Brundall, Norfolk. After attending school in Thorpe, I went on to study architecture at the University of Kent, where I earned both my undergraduate and Master's degrees (as well as some fairly significant awards).

Although my education was in architecture, my true passion had always been film. In 2017, I decided to change direction and set up my own business, Native Origin Limited. Over the past six years, I have been growing my business, building experience, upgrading my equipment, and expanding my network of contacts.

The Native Origin part of my business provides cinematography and documentary filmmaking services. In addition to this, I have now launched two sister companies to provide specialised videography services to my wedding and business clients. Norfolk Wedding Videos was created for wedding video production, and Norfolk Video Productions was established for business video production.

The wedding side of my business was born out of the amazing feedback I was getting from couples. I had started off by filming weddings for friends, but as I received more and more positive feedback (and word of mouth recommendations started to grow), I decided to branch out and offer it as a service for others. The key to my approach has always been putting a couple's needs first and tailoring a package that is specifically the right fit for them. I take pride in capturing those special moments and preserving them for years to come.

If you look me up on Company’s House, you’ll see that my business is officially registered at my accountant's offices in Bury St Edmunds. But the truth is, I actually work from a garden studio (with a woodburner) in the middle of the Norfolk countryside. This is my favorite place to be, fully equipped with an edit and color bay, color-calibrated screens, studio monitors, and coffee on demand. And if I ever need a break, I can step out of the door and walk across the marshes and fields to top-up my inspiration.

Outside of work, I live in Bramerton with my fiancée Kirsty, who works as a local GP, and our four-year-old Golden Retriever, Eddie.
